Much to the relief of former Agriculture Minister Yogendra Sao, a directive has been issued from Rashtrapati Bhawan to Chief Secretary’s office in Jharkhand for taking appropriate action after getting his matter investigated properly by a competent agency. Sao’s wife Nirmala Devi had written a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee alleging atrocities being done by the district administration on her family.
“Taking cognizance over the letter written by us, President Pranab Mukherjee has asked the State Government to get the matter investigated properly by a competent agency and then take proper steps in this regard,” said Sao.
In Barkagaon, Sao and his MlA wife Nirmala Devi are agitating against NTPC, which has three coal mining projects in the area, for years, accusing the company of treating land-losers unfairly. The couple has launched mass agitations in the region and alleged of police atrocities against them. As recently as on May 5 and May 17, Sao had charged the police with beating women and other protesters in anti-NTPC agitations.
Disgraced former minister was also declared tadipaar (extern) on Friday and given notice by the office of Hazaribagh DC Mukesh Kumar to leave the district for six months from June 8 for allegedly fomenting unrest of Barkagaon block against the NTPC, India's largest energy PSU.
