Pravin Singh files nomination for JSCA president

DIG Pravin Singh on Sunday filed nomination papers for Jharkhand State Cricket Association’s (JSCA) election scheduled on May 25. Pitting himself for the post of president, Singh is eyeing to give a tough fight to the incumbent president Amitabh Choudhary, also an IPS.

Soon after finishing the formalities of the nomination, Singh addressed the media and expressed his apprehension over poll. He said that the returning officer has failed to issue him the list of members of JSCA with contact details. The list is crucial for the candidate to contact the voters to seek support.

“ I do not find the situation fair for the polls. At a time when most the voters are out of the station, the very purpose of the polling is not justified. Moreover, the elections are scheduled on Saturday which is a working day,” he noted.

Praveen Singh said that that after the May 15 IPl match at Ranchi only a notice was put up at the notice board about the annual AGM will be held on May 25 at the international stadium complex from 9 in the morning.

“ It is the duty of the board to either inform through the peon book or sent it on postal address but 800 members came to know about the meeting through the newspapers which is completely against the rule,” he noted. Singh noted that JSCA is registered under society’s Act and it should function as a society but there are people who have made it a private organisation.

“We will be meeting electoral officer as soon as possible and demand free and fair election, it is not a matter of win, whoever wins should see that the spirit of the game and mutual respect of cricket should be maintained. We should see to it that the game of cricket should be equally distributed to all the 24 districts and clubs of the State,” he said.
