Prashant Bhushan: NDA harming tribal interests

Published on:

Eminent Supreme Court lawyer and AAP leader Prashant Bhushan, coming down heavily on the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, said that it was deliberately trying to weaken the laws meant for securing the rights of the tribal society with a vested interest of favouring private companies in the country.

Bhushan was delivering a lecture on the third death anniversary of Sister Walsa Jones, who was allegedly killed at her rented accommodation Pachuara village of Pakur for fighting for the rights of displaced tribal villagers in the year 2011.

“It is an irony that the Modi Government, which claims to be the most honest Government is saying that they cannot do anything about the private companies calling the PSU’s inefficient and corrupt,” said Bhushan. Moreover, it also says that other PSUs in the country will also be privatised, he added.

Bhushan further added that the motive of any private company is to earn profit without caring for the environment and losses done to the nature as a whole. He said, “Privatisation is the not the solution to the increasing corruption in the public sector companies; time has come to ponder whether these companies should really be allotted coal blocks where even cooperative societies were not allowed recently in Hazaribagh.” On the other hand, the Government is also announced that some other PSU’s may also get privatised in the future, he said.

Bhushan also warned the people of Jharkhand to be alert as the same Government, running at the Centre, is likely to be formed in Jharkhand also after the coming Assembly elections which may destroy the resources which is in ample in quantity.

“The ulterior motive of this government must be exposed by the people which according my understanding is trying to divide the Hindu-Christian unity in the state for their own profit,” said Bhushan.

Bhushan also demanded that such laws must be made in the Country that the natural resources like coal, water and minerals must go to the public sector companies making them more efficient and corruption free by the Government.

Remembering Sister Walsa Jones as an ideal personality who sacrificed her life for the cause of the common people, Bhushan said that one should struggle for the rights of the society ensuring victory at the end for the common man.
