Power failure leaves Ranchiites simmering in monsoon

The city woke up to a major power breakdown with a major fault in its supply lines between two grids at Hatia and Namkum.

The fault crippled life in the city with people simmering in humid conditions without any rainfall. Power supply in lohardaga, Palamu and latehar was also affected throughout the day.

JSEB officials said that the fault was between Hatia and Namkum grids, which allows supply of about 300 MW electricity for the Capital City and latehar-Palamu districts.

Electricty was restored in the evening around 5:30 PM, said the officials.

“We have a PGCIl line between Hatia and Namkum grids and there was some technical fault there in the day.

The same line allows us to supply power to lohardaga, latehar and Palamu districts.

When the line got tripped we had just 100 MW power to supply in the city, which requires 300 MW,” said JUVNl official MP Yadav.

“The fault could not be located but the electricity was restored in the evening with proper supply to all areas in the city alongwith the adjacent districts,” he added.

However, people living in several areas of the city complained of power crisis till 9 pm in the evening.

Businesses and common man had to bear the brunt of the situation. School children said that they attended classes sweating in humidity without fans.

The Capital city witness zero rainfall on Friday with maximum temperature of 32 degree Celsius.
