Power pangs continued for the second consecutive day in all areas which falls under the command of Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam limited ( JUVNl).
The crisis was due to short-supply from the Central load Dispatch in Ranchi. Places like Mango, Jugsalai, Karandih, Birsanagar, Parsudih, Chhota Govindpur, Ghorabandha, Sonari and Kadma were confronting with frequent power cuts and loadsheddings. Over 4 lakh people have been affected.
JUVNl general manager (Singhbhum electricity supply area) Amarnath Mishra said the problem was due to breakdown of one of the units of Tenughat Vidyut Nigam limited (TVNl).
"The shortfall of power due to unavailability of supply from central load dispatch prompted JUVNl with no option but to clamp blackouts throughout its command areas. The central load dispatch in Ranchi supplies power to Gamharia and Golmuri power grid sub-stations here. But, because of the breakdown we are getting insufficient power in both the grids resulting in the crisis," he said.
“In most part of the area electricity supply is not there and even in some of the locality where there is power supply is irregular. Moreover, the years old electricity wires and poles are in abject condition with incident of power cuts being taking place frequently in summer,” informed, Mahesh Patel, resident of Mango. With regard to the electricity the scenario is far from improving as large population is solely dependent on limited sets of JUVNl transformers in the area.
For some consumers, power failure triggered water shortage. “Water could not be pumped to the overhead tanks. We were compelled to fetch water from Jusco taps in neighbouring localities,” Parsudih resident Anil Tiwary.
