The district’s poor performance in implementing the Government’s scheme to the minorities has upset Shahid Akhtar the chairman of state minority commission.

Expressing concern over the issuehe told the officials to achieve the target earliest. “I have given three months’ time to achieve the target to the officials. Action would be taken if they failed”, he added.

Bokaro is on the bottom in list to implement schemes for the minorities; now below 7 per cent of the target, said Akther. He blamed alienated attitudes of the government officials which hinders the development among the minorities.

“My focus is mainly on education as I personally believe education is indispensable part of life and essential for the holistic development”, he said. “Among the minorities, 25 percent children do not take admission in schools while other 25 percents drop out their schools. Most of them are found as child labourers”, he added.
