Poonam Singh became the first lady of Medininagar Nagar Parshad which is popularly known as Daltonganj Municipality. She got 10,146 votes. Janki Devi stood second to her with 5,634 votes while Shobha Singh managed to get 4,854 votes only.
It was daughters-in-law who were in the fray here with an overall number of 13. And the winner is a housewife but has a distinction of being a daughter-in-law of Surinder Singh the outgoing chairman. This family succeeded in retaining this seat over the last five decades.
The defeat of the daughter in law Shobha Singh of Bidesh Singh MlA Panki has stunned many as her campaign was most enormous and the MlA Bidesh Singh, too, had thrown his weight behind this poll campaign.
