All eyes are on April 20 when the counting of votes will be done for the municipal polls. The BJP fielded a woman for mayoral post as it is reserved for woman and a man for deputy mayor’s post.
The nomination for mayor’s post by the central committee of BJP had evoked immense discontent here leading to a promising candidate a woman forsaking her seat to enable some brother in party to fight and the BJP leadership heard this woman and fielded a man where this woman would have been.
For BJP candidates came CM Raghubar Das and a couple of ministers.
For mayor came an ex film star Poonam Dhillon on the last day of campaigning here and only God knows what Dhillon’s arrival here meant for BJP and how much this one time heroin of silver screen added to the votes of the BJP’s mayoral candidate who was going strong herself.
Sources said this ex film star created more chasm between the mayor candidate and the deputy mayor candidate of the BJP since she spoke what she was asked to speak ignoring completely the name of the deputy mayor candidate of the BJP.
Such a campaign has never been seen or heard within a party sources said.
Insiders in the BJP said there was a hidden agenda of a couple of leaders to marginalize the other BJP candidate here in this poll.
Sources said if the poll stakes are too high, then for Congress it is also no less at all, as here the Congress gave its ticket to a family whose kin has been holding the seat since three decades and family feud in politics came to the fore most where no one knows who got benefitted by this pitting against each other.
AJSU played a game changer as it fielded a Muslim woman to make a dent in the votes of this community and to disrupt enmass voting a practice this community has forgotten long ago as minority votes get split more than required.
There was a word doing the round here that AJSU helped BJP more than one expected.
JMM and JVM looked too fierce against each other in this poll and voters never got a feel that JMM and JVM could be together in polls to come soon in the State.
BSP ‘s woman candidate for mayor made everyone here think that caste politics still holds too much water as she played this card extremely well but at the same time BSP candidate made a detour of the Medininagar corporation area which JMM, JVM and RJD and even BJP missed out in many locations. RJD went on reminding voters that poor man’s messiah lalu Prasad is in jail as the Central Government fears him most for his political wisdom and dynamism. Voters knew everything and did what they thought best the result of which will be evident after two days said sources.
