BJP gets face to counter Sudesh in Ranchi

Amid the election fever and constantly changing caste equations in Ranchi, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) got the much needed boost in the form of a known face among the Kurmi vote bank who is believed by the party to bring the caste equations to equilibrium after AJUS party chief Sudesh Mahto’s entry in lok Sabha elections.

Hundreds of Janta Dal-United workers in the leadership of president of Jharkhand unit of Kishan Sabha Raja Ram Mahto today joined BJP in the presence of former Chief Minister Arjun Munda and BJP’s candidate for Ranchi, Ram Tahal Chaudhary. The move is expected to allay concerns of BJP especially after Sudesh jumping the poll ring.

“Entry of community leaders in BJP will polarise votes of the community in favour of the party. The party was in a strong position from beginning and it will gain more strength henceforth,” maintained Raja Mahto.

Interestingly, Raja Ram Mahto was the among the persons to lead Kurmi agitation against Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for allegedly dumping widow of Sudhir Mahto after promising her ticket to Rajya Sabha. Notably, the Kurmi vote bank is considered among the most united and more in number across Jharkhand.

“People of Silli, Sonahatu and other blocks of Ranchi have joined the party. A national party has honoured us so we will ensure that our candidate wins in this election,” maintained the newly inducted leader.

Earlier, Munda communicated to the newly inducted members about the growing influence of BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi and praised them for accepting the leadership of Modi besides preferring BJP’s ideology over others.

“BJP welcomes all newly inducted members and at same time we hope that they will work under the banner of BJP to ensure party candidate’s win,” asserted Munda.

For the BJP’s candidate, the event signified better performance in the elections which is overly depended on caste factor. Chaudhary urged the newly inducted leader of the Kurmi community to play a constructive role for the party in the coming elections and help him in defeating arch rival and sitting MP Subodh Kant Sahay for not addressing problems as an MP and also a Union Minister in UPA.

“What he (Subodh) has done in so many yearsIJ He has amassed wealth and become corrupt. We brothers (Chaudhary and Mahto) will work together to win this election,” maintained the BJP nominee. Other members to join the party today was former chief of RRDA and senior JD(U) leader Abhay Kumar Singh.
