The horrific alleged rape and murder of a girl at Ormanjhi on the outskirts of State Capital has brought the focus back on law and order situation in State. The Opposition party BJP, which is protesting against the incident after the headless body of the girl was found on January 2, on Tuesday escalated its attack on the ruling party.
Senior BJP leader and party legislative leader Babulal Marandi on Tuesday termed the Ormanjhi incident a horrific one, claiming that the present Government has failed to provide security to daughters of the State. “There is a complete sense of lawlessness in the State under the present regime,” added Marandi.
Marandi, said that in just one year 1765 cases of atrocities against women have been recorded, which is five cases of rape and murder incidents per day. “Women are not safe in the State as there have been cases of women atrocities in Sahebganj, Barhait, Ramgarh and even State Capital Ranchi,” said Marandi.
Speaking on Ormanjhi incident, the BJP leader said, “Prima facie it appears that the girl was subjected to severe physical torture before her death. The incident is bigger than Delhi’s Nirbhaya incident. But the incompetent police administration has failed to arrest any accused behind the incident. Also, even after passing more than 72 hours police have neither recovered the head of the victim girl nor found out the identity of the victim.”
On the public protest at Kishoreganj roundabout en-route to the Chief Minister’s carcade, Marandi said, “It is very disturbing that the public was protesting against the incident, but the State Government with an objective to suppress such protest has criminalized the protestors.”
The BJP leader threatened that if the State Government tries to target BJP workers behind Kishoreganj incident then the party will be left with no other alternative but to carry out a State-wide protest against the government.
Marandi said, “The Ormanjhi incident is a failure of government intelligence as police are busy in collecting bribes.”
Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra who too was present at the media conference said that present government is playing only emotional card with tribal populace as atrocities against tribals and Dalits have gone up in the State in past one year. Lakra said, “In one year more than 600 cases of atrocities against tribal women has occurred, while 412 cases of atrocities against Dalit women have occurred in a year.”
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee spokespersons Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo and Rajesh Gupta ‘Chhotu’ have reacted on BJP leadership behavior and conduct after CM carcade was stopped by protestors at Kishoreganj. The Congress leadership claimed the way BJP leaders-workers adopted an irresponsible attitude under a conspiracy last evening, it has shown moral degradation and criminalization of BJP leaders has taken place.
State Congress Spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey said that the people who attacked the Chief Minister were armed with sticks and sticks and were the people of BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. Babulal Marandi, who questioned the legal system, should clarify whether the BJP wants to criminalize the entire party and the BJP is directly responsible for Monday's incident. The Congress leadership demanded strict action against people behind the incident.
State Congress spokesperson Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo said that if there was an attack on the PM's convoy, what would be the reaction of the BJP leaders. This type of incident cannot be tolerated in a democratic system. On the direction of the state Director General of Police MV Rao, action has been started by identifying the people involved in the incident and soon the entire conspiracy will be revealed.
