Ranchi SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi on Friday suspended the officer in-charge of the PCR van, who has been charged with throwing an injured person near Ranchi Railway Station, instead of taking him to the hospital on Wednesday night.

Policemen in PCR 21 allegedly threw a person on the back side of GRP barrack who got injured after he dashed his scooter on the divider near Ranchi Railway Station.

“The PCR officer on duty Baliram Ravidas has been suspended for negligence in discharging his duties with an advisory to others that such thing should not get repeated again or action will be taken against them,” said the SSP.

“It is a sheer negligence on the part of that officer as he could have taken him to the hospital or arranged an ambulance to carry him to the hospital,” he added.

“Otherwise the whole team of Ranchi Police, whether it is PCR or ARMAR, all are doing well in discharging their duties,” SSP said.

The action was taken on the basis of the report submitted by the officer in charge of Chutia Police Station after a thorough inquiry was done by him after scanning CCTV footage of Ranchi Railway Station on Friday.

Earlier, residents of Chutia from where lohra belonged to, gheraod Chutia Police Station on Friday demanding immediate action against the PRC officer who left him die at the Railway Station. They left the place only after they were convinced by the Chutia OC that proper action will be taken against him if found guilty in the CCTV footage, said the police.

“I scanned the CCTV footage where negligence of the PCR is quite evident. In spite of putting the person aside towards Ranchi Railway Station, he should have been taken to the hospital as he was badly injured,” said officer in-charge of Chutia police station Braj Kishore Bharti.

Incidentally, Shankar lohra, going towards Chutia at around 1 am on Thursday, somehow dashed his scooter on the divider near Ranchi Railway Station and got seriously injured. When PCR van was called by the locals, they put him aside towards the Ranchi Railway Station and left calling it the jurisdiction of GRP who will take care of it.

lohra remained there for several hours, till he was located by the GRP personnel in the morning, who took him immediately to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences after providing first aid to him.

“Our priority was to save his life hence we took him to the hospital on an auto-rickshaw as soon as possible without wasting any time for ambulance,” said officer in charge of GRP police station Anil Kumar Singh. Condition of lohra is still said to be critical, added Singh.
