The famous festival of Hazaribagh Ramnavmi though passed off peacefully in the district, its after-effect became visible on April 8 when a mob blocking the Hazaribagh Chatra Road started pelting stones on the police team and the police used tear gas shells and lathi charged to disperse the mob and to clear the road.

It all happened in Katkamsandi block of the district. According to sources two groups of youths clashed with each other on Ramnavmi day there on the matter of eve teasing. In this clash three youths namely Pappu Yadav of Bargadda, Ajay Yadav of Bargadda and Santosh Mehta of Harhad were seriously injured. They all were referred to RIMS Ranchi where yesterday Pappu Yadav died during treatment.

Yesterday when his dead body was brought back villagers blocked the road demanding compensation for the family. CO Neetu Kumari talked with the villagers and assured them to provide all the benefits as per Government norms. Today some local leaders entered into the scene and again blocked the road and demanded to call both DC and SP at the spot.

The circle officer informed SDO Shashi Ranjan about this development and then SDO with police force reached at the spot. He tried to convince the villagers that the district administration will adhere with the agreement made by his officer but the leaders were not in a mood to listen anything.

The agitated mob started pelting stones on the force. SDO Shashi Ranjan and many policemen got injured in this stone pelting then police used force to control the situation. It first used tear gas shells to disperse the gathering but when villagers turned more aggressive then used lathi to control the situation. The road was opened first and then officials and extra forces were sent to Bahimar where the incident happened.

Now police has started search operation of the leaders of the mob. According to our sources some ex-village local body representative provoked the villagers and the family members of the deceased to block the road once again for getting immediate compensation. Search of culprits is on and it is hoped that by tonight most of them will be behind the bars.
