SP Palamu Inderjeet Mahatha has asked his officials not to call the holders of passport for its verification in the police stations from now on wards. He said ' I have directed my officials to visit the house for passport verification as this will make the police more visible even in small colony and hamlet'.
Mahatha said as against the initiation of 11, 623 passport verification police have completed 11, 684 verification.
If SP Palamu has given respect to passport holders he is determined to teach a lesson to those who ride bike but wear no helmet. Coming Monday will be the start of helmet checking here in Palamu but with a difference.
Mahatha said this time our police men will not issue challan but our police will go to court for prosecution against non helmet users on bikes. He said this is to inculcate a sense of safety on road for oneself and for one's family.
He clarified ' This is none of the business of the cops to see if your head has head gear but since absence of helmet on many occasions cause s enormous law and order problem in the event of death occurring on road the police find it proper to ensure that helmets are back on one's head.
He said ' I would be interacting with 134 battalion of CRPF here along with JAP and IRB officials too to strike a co ordinate mode. I am already in touch with SPs of Garhwa and latehar in this connection'.
Mahatha admitted that six police stations of Palamu district namely Daltonganj Chainpur Hussainabad Haidernagar Parwa and Untari Road are languishing to be hooked to CCTNS ( Crime Control & Tracking Network System) because of some technical glitch which he asserted would be sorted out in a few week's time.
He asked his inspector, SDPO to raise his own fleet of intelligence gathering as he reminded ' Getting intelligence is not the baby of only the SP but it should be the child of everyone in the department'.
He announced that for good works done on anti naxal front the SP is now empowered to give reward to the tune of rupees of 50,000 to police officials or any civilian who so helps the police in cracking naxal crime/offence. Mahatha admitted it was a pittance of a sort in the past.
He plans to hold a workshop on the control of cyber crime in Palamu as he has the hunch that criminals here may go high tech in their commission of unlawful activities.
Taking a cue from his predecessor Patel Mayur K lal this new SP's thrust too is on speedy trial of the criminals
As regards 74 detected cases of loot and dacoity lingering here over the last three years or so Mahatha said the effort will be now to nail down the absconders of these 74 detected cases of loot and dacoity.
