In a major breakthrough against illegal liquor smuggling, Bermo police seized 14 cartons and 2850 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested one involved in its smuggling on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
While police caught hold of one accused, the other managed an escape. A case has been registered against accused and efforts are being made to nab the other one at large. The accused used to smuggle liquor probably a car, said Inspector cum Officer in-Charge KK Sahu of Bermo police station.
According to Officer in-Charge, a person, who stored illicit liquor at a rented room just back side of Ram Ratan high school, Phusro. The raid by the Bermo police led to the arrest of one person namely Dheeraj Kumar.
The tip-off led our team to Phusro where 14 cartons of Whiskey and found 2850 pouches of illegal Andhra Pradesh-labelled liquor were seized. The following raid by the Officer-in Charge KKSahu, Anant Singh ASI and forces of Bermo police station.
