Police ready to foil JJMP’s levy demand for bridge construction

Latehar police have geared up to thwart the threat call of JJMP (Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad) in connection with a multi crore bridge coming up between Maseyatu Holang under Balumath police station.

SP, Latehar, Parshant Anand, has asked ASP (Ops) Vipul Pandey to do all to tame, contain and neutralize JJMP naxal Pappu Lohra. Sources said Pappu Lohra made a threat call to the munshi of the bridge Sandeep Singh asking him to stop all construction.

Singh later informed the contractor Mumtaz Khan as he and his team is building this 120 meter long, 36 pole and 7 span bridge telling him about JJMP’s threat to stop construction.  Sources said Khan too got a similar threat call from JJMP’s Lohra.

Khan said construction work of this bridge is stopped since September 29. JJMP Pappu Lohra has issued no work diktat he added.  “This has led our work force to run away from the work site. Around 20 labourers of West Bengal have left the work here and gone home. Local labourers too are scared of working at this site,” added Khan.

He said out of 36 piles 22 are ready. Similarly out of 7 spans 2 are ready. The JJMP are creating obstacles in the construction of remaining 14 piles and 5 spans now.

Khan met DIG of police Palamu Vipul Shukla and SP Latehar Parshant Anand and sought police help at the construction site.

“The DIG has assured full security cover at the construction site. DIG has also directed SP Latehar to ensure all safety and security measures at the construction site,” told Khan.

SP Latehar said, “JJMP, which was given a severe blow by police this year, has again tred to rear its head but police will put it down.  Their game plan for levy will be crushed.  This kind of threat call to stop work at construction site is pretty common and our police will take full care of JJMP and its aberrations will be foiled.”

As regards labourers going away from site SP said there will be immediate restoration of security feeling there at this site and there is no reason labourers who worked here prior to this threat call would not return.

Khan said, “I too have faith in police as we are doing developmental works which is for the society.”

Khan has one more big worry. It is his stone crushing plant at Asehar in Palamu which is at high risk area from naxal point of view and he has demanded deployment of security force at this plant itself.

Police sources said Panki police take care of this plant but police sources admit such care and police patrol from Panki Police Station is no guarantee that if and when naxals attack this unit their repulsion will be without any set back.
