The Ranchi police have decided to tighten its noose around high speed bikers. Most of the bikers' are youngsters in the age group of 18 to 30 years school and college-going students and many of them come from well-to-do families. These bikers were also involved in group clashes and petty crimes such chain snatching.
The Ranchi newly elected SSP Surendra Kumar Jha has asked traffic cops on duty at major roundabouts to take strict action against these high speed bikers. The SSP has asked traffic cops not to target commuters but to focus on high speed bikers. Sources said that as traffic police are focused on traffic violators and those driving without helmets many a times it has been observed that high speed bikers wearing escape police action.
Police sources said that the SSP has asked police to focus on high speed bikers as in past few days several cases of chain snatching have been reported from different parts of Capital and involvement of youngsters has come to fore in such incidents.
The newly appointed SSP of Ranchi Surendra Kumar Jha said, “The Ranchi police will intensify police patrolling, and the Quick Response Team (QRT) will be strengthened. Police patrolling on lanes and bylanes will be intensified.” Police personnel on plain clothes will also be deputed at parks as morning walkers too are victims of chain snatching incidents.
The SSP has asked police to focus on high speed bikers in the age group of 18 to 30 years. In the last few days several cases of chain snatching have been reported. On Tuesday, two bike borne miscreants looted a chain from a woman at Lalji Hirji road under Kotwali police station area. The victim in her complaint has said that on Tuesday she was passing through Lalji Hirji road when two bike borne miscreants looted gold chain from her.
A week back, two motor-cycle borne miscreants looted Rs 2 lakh cash from police personnel near Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) premises under Bariatu police station.
The victim police personnel, Suresh Thakur posted as ASI at Silli police station after withdrawing cash from State Bank of India (SBI) Bariatu branch was going towards the main road when two bike borne miscreants looted the cash.
