The safest hideout of Naxalites-Budha Pahar of Palamu district in the State is now on the verge of collapse. Jharkhand Police and Chhattisgarh Police are running a joint operation on the Buddha Pahar located on the Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh border. The name of this operation is Octopus.
The security forces destroyed a Maoist bunker and recovered a large quantity of explosives and Chinese landmines. In this operation, many types of similar items have been recovered by the police, but the police have not disclosed it yet.
The police of both the States are trying to connect the local people with the mainstream while driving out the Naxalites. Palamu DIG Rajkumar Lakra reached Budha Pahar on Saturday and inspected the construction of a small bridge by the security forces in the Budha river and has given several instructions to Garhwa SP and Latehar SP.
Palamu Range DIG Rajkumar Lakra said that the police are assessing the social and economic condition of the villagers living in the area of Budha Pahad. Lakra said that police have to not only make Budha Pahar Naxal-free, but also to connect the people of the area with the mainstream. He said that those people who have been affected due to the ideology of Naxalites, they have to be educated.
The DIG said that the operation against the Maoists Octopus has been started on Budha Pahar and top officials of the security forces are camping in the area. He also said that the villagers are being reached in all areas of Budha Pahar, so that electricity, water and PDS systems can be provided to the people. He said that the area of Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar is also adjacent to this Budha Pahar, there are 15 to 20 villages adjacent to this area. “The population of five to eight thousand lives in these villages. Till now, proper Government facilities are not available to the people here. He claimed that soon the old Naxalite would be free.
“To eliminate the Naxalites in the Budha Pahar area, surveillance is being done by the police and security forces from three places. Monitoring is being done from Baheratoli in Garhwa, Kuzroom in Latehar and Baresadh. In this campaign Latehar SP Garhwa SP along with former SHO Ranjit Yadav has been included in the special team, along with the soldiers of Cobra, Jaguar, CRPF, ZAP, IRB were deployed, in which more than 40 companies have been deployed,” said Lakra.
