Drawing lessons from the communal violence that hit city in past years, East Singhbhum district administration is taking proactive steps for peaceful conduct of Eid-ul-Azha (scheduled on August 12) in communally sensitive areas of city. The shadow of beef ban, which the religious groups here have vowed to defy, will loom over this year’s festivity.
Superintendent of police (City) Subhash Chandra Jat addressed a Peace Committee Meeting at Azadnagar Police Station at Mango and motivated the people to celebrate the festival peacefully. He said that the people should not pay heed to any rumours and must contact the local police at the time of need. Jat also informed that social media will also be put under scanner.
The administration recently held a meeting which was attended by senior police officials, local urban body representatives.
It gave orders to the local urban bodies and police officials concerned to ensure that safety is maintained during festival.
