Chainpur police on Friday held its second meeting with responsible citizens belonging to various castes/groups at the Chainpur block building to foster peace and harmony during counting and post counting period here.
The meeting was presided over by SDPO Sandip Kumar Gupta and BDO Chainpur Alka Kumari. Zila parishad members, mukhiyas, ward members and others numbering around 100 took part in this meeting on Friday.
At the start of the meeting inspector of police R R Shahi listed the agenda of the meeting which had issues like witchcraft, mob lynching, atrocity against woman but at the core of the meeting was the maintenance of peace and law and order on the day of counting and during victory processions etc.
Officer in charge of Chainpur police station Sunit Kumar had invited the rich and the poor, the vocal and the sensible to this meeting just to know the pulse of the people for the post counting time here.
Sunit Kumar looked towards the gathering watching who the soul would tell the hard fact. Those who spoke had sugarcoated versions!
Like all such peace meetings the speakers one after the other spoke about ‘nothing will go wrong either on the counting day or during the victory procession repeating that people live here in all amity’.
A few suggested something like police should get victory processions video recorded, processionists should not throw ‘abeer gulal’ on those people who do not like it etc forcing a moustachoid mukhiya sitting in the meeting to comment ‘If anyone has any allergy then that fellow should keep asThe gathering knew the counting would decide the fate of the BJP and the Congress again making this moustachoid mukhiya to chip in “ Where will go the Independents?” Just few laughed over this.
A few spoke on NRC and CAA with rhetoric on this occasion.
It was SDPO Sandip K Gupta who spoke tough and meaningful things when he said, “Those who said here that NRC and CAA do not matter here should not think that police are not aware of the fact that as to who is holding meeting in places of worship for this. Keep in mind our eyes and ears are open. No one should indulge in any aberration at all.”
“You people told us here that communal harmony remains intact then tell us why there was communal eruptions at Chando village which comes under the Chainpur police station? A few gets swayed by emotion and then faces the rigour of law,” reminded Gupta.
SDPO urged people to abide by law, not to take law unto their hands and then there will come no problem as he said problems come when people take law in their hands. The gathering agreed in all totality.
