Palamu police had a tough time in handling the procession for immersion of goddess Saraswati at village Baree under Satbarwa police station on February 3 evening.
According to DSP PR Barwar the immersion procession was halted by members of the other community on the ground that the procession route was not through their population and hence procession could not go any further.
Barwar said that the other group was equally adamant and this created heated argument and counter arguments between the two communities there at village Baree.
“Before the situation could have taken any uglier turn Satbarwa police intervened.
Tolerance was definitely missing from both the sides. later saner elements of both the communities stepped forward leading to the restoration of peace,” said the DSP.
