A city police team on Wednesday took the two suspected al Qaida activists Abdul Sami and Abdul Rahman alias Katki from Ghaghidih Central Jail where they had been lodged last afternoon.

The team led by deputy superintendent of police (police control room) J Karketta started interrogation of the duo at the Bistupur police station from about 11.30 am.

Karketta said that they have just started interrogation of the suspected terrorist and it is too early to comment anything from the interrogation which is likely to continue for days together as the duo are in a seven day police remand.

"We cannot comment now . We have just begun the interrogation of the two suspected al Qaida operatives.  We have a set system for interrogating such hard-nuts to crack.  We are hopeful to succeed in detecting the network that the accused have spread across the steel city," said the DSP (PCR).

A team of intelligence officials has also joined hands in the interrogation of the Qaida suspects. Sources said that those who are assigned to interrogate the two will focus on several points concerning Sami (32) and Katki (37) to know about their past activities in the steel city. The police want to know whether the duo have any link to criminal activities in the city.

"The interrogating team is focusing on the number of times Katki visited the steel city.  The police will know the content of the meeting with people," said the police officer on condition of anonymity.

The police officer pointed out that the city police will also try to find out the number of people, especially the youngsters whom he had enticed to join the terror group.  He pointed out the district police will also take help from the Odisha police to get details about the students of Katki who would run a Madarsa at Tangi until December 2015 when he was arrested by Delhi police.

According to the police officer, Katki has so far given radical teachings to as many as 20 youths and most of them are from Jharkhand.  The police will try to find out them by interrogating Katki who is the key figure behind the network of suspected al Qaida operatives in the steel city and also in Jharkhand.

Notably, the al Qaida's Jamshedpur link was established after a team of Delhi  police had arrested Katki from Cuttack in Odisha in December last.  On the revelation made by Katki, the Delhi police arrested Sami from a place in Haryana on December 18 for link with al Qaida.
