Police go all out to restore peace in Chhatarpur

Chhatarpur is limping back to normalcy after two days of uneasy calm there. On Sunday a peace committee meeting was held wherein members of both the communities vented their ire over each other accusing them of exercising no restraint or tolerance. DIG police Saket K Singh said this peace committee meeting would usher in a new lease of trust and faith of the two communities in each other now.

Sources said the BJP MlA Chatterpur Radha Krishan Kishore too took part in this peace committee meeting for which he rushed down from Ranchi this Sunday. Earlier speaking to The Pioneer on Sunday morning, Kishore said that police in Chhaterpur acted fast but its action should also be visible to the society.

In other development, swift and timely action by police in latehar led by its SP Anup Birtharey helped restore communal harmony at Nawagarh where on Friday skirmishes had broken out following the unrestrained and unwanted act of the members of a community who showed not even the scant respect for other community.

SP latehar Birtharey had to come on the street on Saturday to calm down the agitating mood of the members of the other community who wanted arrest of the culprits responsible for Friday skirmishes.

Sources said Birtharey and his team of police officers acted very sanely and gave full ears to the protesting people who vented their ire full and returned homes satisfied that police would book the wrong doers.

DIG police Palamu Saket Kumar Singh confirming the return of normalcy in Nawagarh in latehar thundered ‘No body should be in any illusion that police would not bring the wrong doer to justice. There would be arrest of the culprits. law abiding people need not worry. The guilty ones have been identified’.

DIG agreed that Nawagarh incident was most avoidable and one community looked hell-bent to create trouble but such a licence to create trouble would be severely crushed, he reminded.

latehar's another non descript village Checha too saw communal ferment where again members of one community wanted to pass through the route which was not ever traditional for the passage of this community's procession.

Again when it came down to another community's procession the previous community tried to stall it. Here the SP latehar asked his cops to act very tough and firm and traditional route was opened for passage of procession informed the DIG.

In Palamu's Khatim village some abeer was thrown on Tazia by some miscreants which led to skirmishes here too where also heavy police Bandobast restored peace.

DIG said ‘This Abeer was thrown with mischief intent it appears. But what followed thereafter too was most avoidable. Here too police would go tough with the miscreants of both the communities'.

In Garhwa district's Majhiaon members of the same community had a brawl over the immersion of idol which too was handled with care and caution,SSSS reminded DIG.

Sources said Palamu police range's 3 districts latehar, Garhwa and Palamu remained not untouched by erratic passion.

However except for tyre burning in this range there was no other case of burning. Shops did shut down like in latehar on Saturday more for its safety than for any vandalism.

The role of the police remained neutral and transparent which led to restoration of order much faster, said members of both the communities here.
