Ranchi police on Tuesday foiled a war between the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ in the Capital and arrested six people including five directly associated with one gang said to be headed by Fahim Khan of Dhanbad. The members of the gang were arrested from Neem Chowk in Doranda.
Five sharp shooters of the gang of Fahim Khan, having roots in Wasseypur in Dhanbad, were in the capital to kill Sabir Ali, head of the rival gang also based in Dhanbad. Sabir is allegedly involved in the murder of the mother and aunt of Khan. The killing had sparked a gang war between the two groups.
“They had planned to execute Sabir who was expected to appear in High Court (in connection with a case),” said City SP Anoop Birtharay. Police recovered one 9mm pistol and three live cartridges, two 7.65mm pistols, two .315 bore country-made pistols and four cartridges of the pistol besides eight mobiles belonging to the arrested persons. Police is exploring links of the gang with local outfits and the arrested persons will be further interrogated to ascertain criminal activities planned by the group. A case of conspiracy is likely to be filed against Khan who is currently languishing in jail.
