In anticipation of failure in CBSE Class 10 exams, three youths escaped from their homes and were later recovered by the police last night. “As they were afraid that they would fail in Class X board exams, they ran away from their homes, allegedly to commit suicide”, said police.

All three of them are residents of Telidih, Yaduvansh Nagar and Prabhat Colony Chas, and they are students of the same school, said police. Feared over their poor performance in the exam, they escaped from home on 14 July evening (a day before the result was published) with a motto to commit suicide, said ASI Shiv Charan Mahato, investigating officer.

“Following the missing complaint lodged (by their parents), we started an investigation. With the help of cyber experts, we have traced out their mobile location, and around 1 AM (last night), they were recovered from Pindrajora forest area,” said Mahato.

During the investigation, we have found a message they posted on the Facebook— Life is over” (Jeevan Khatam Ho Gaya). So we have immediately taken our cyber cell experts’ help and started tracing their mobile phones, said Mahato.

“We brought them to Chas police station where the youths admitted that they feared failure in exams and wanted to end their lives,” said police. Later they were handed over to their parents on self bail bond.

On Tuesday night (a day before the result announced), a youth committed suicide feared his poor result score in CBSE class 10 exams. Rudra Pratap Singh, son of Ritu Rani Singh, a BJP leader has hanged himself, police said. “The parents and other family members told police that Rudra was quite tense since the past few days for his results,” added OC of Chas police station.

On Wednesday afternoon, the result was declared, and Rudra scored excellent marks.

Notably, student’s suicides are on the rise in India.
