A quality cum price hitch over an illicit pistol and boasting of huge cash with which to buy a more good quality illicit pistol cost a Dalit salesman his life in Harihurganj but the Harihurganj police cracked the case in just 48 hours after the commission of this bizarre case of murder sending two persons to jail with lots of recovery of arms and ammunition including the weapon used in the murder.

SP Palamu Ajay Linda said a 24 year old salesman Arvind Kumar Thakur wanted to buy an illicit pistol and Sarwan Kumar Gupta, owner of a reputed sweet shop of Harihurganj and Prawin Jaiswal offered an illicit pistol to Thakur on the night of June 16, which Thakur rejected finding the quality and price of the pistol not in commensurate with each other.

Linda said the trio Thakur, Sarwan and Prawin had a wine session on June 16 where this deal failed but Thakur in an unguarded moment of him boasted that he had enough money with him with which he could buy a good quality pistol rejecting the one showed to him by Sarwan and Perwin.

Linda said Thakur even showed his wads of notes worth 30,000 rupees to prove he meant what he said about his having the cash. SP said this exhibition of cash was a big temptation to Prawin as he was having a bad time in this Covid 19 and so he decided to finish Thakur for money only.

Linda said all the three were dead drunk and Thakur had this much of cash which Prawin is alleged to have taken by killing him on the spot far away from where they had had their bouts of drink on June 16 while Thakur’s body was retrieved by police on June 17 morning.

Thakur was from Bihar and was working as a salesman in Palamu’s Harihurganj but his longing for illicit arms proved a big nemesis for him.SDPO Chhaterpur Shambhu Kumar Singh and his team cracked this case in 48 hours.

The sweet shop owner Sarwan and Prawin were caught on Thursday who were remanded in judicial custody on Friday.Police recovered the pistol with which Perwin is alleged to have shot dead Thakur.Police recovered 30,000 in cash too which was robbed of from Thakur.

The sweet shop owner’s godown had deadly things more than sweets like three country made psitols of 7.65 bore, 2 magzines of 7.65 bore, 12 rounds of live fire of 7.65 bore, 60 rounds of live fire of 315 bore and even more than 4 dozen empty cases of cartridges which the police recovered and lodged cases against sweet seller and Prawin under section 302 and Arms Act.
