on Saturday.

Jharkhand DGP DK Pandey and Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) Sunil Bhaskaran flagged off the patrolling motorcycles from JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Saturday.

Under this, 20 motorcycles, fitted with GPS systems, first-aid kits, wireless system and other accessories and manned by a police constable and security personnel from Tata Steel, will patrol the city streets.

“The manpower required for this will be shared by Jamshedpur Police and Tata Steel. The bike will be driven by the security personnel with an armed constable riding pillion,” said Jamshedpur SP Anoop T Mathew

“These 20 motorcycles will cover four police station areas – Bishtupur, Kadma, Sakchi and Sonari. The GPS will allow police control room to monitor their positions in real time. The constable and Tata Steel security personnel will patrol in 8-hour shifts,” Mathew informed.

These mobile patrols will be tracked for surveillance, domination of various beats, extending assistance to accident victims, timely and swift intervention within minutes to deter and prevent crime in the city and provide sense of assurance to the citizens.

A similar initiative, christened Jamshedpur Accident Response and Medical Assistance (JARMA) was launched last year in collaboration Medica super-speciality hospital to aid accident victims.

“Our response time, within the city limits, was brought down to three minutes. Around 700 cases came to JARMA in the last year and we were able to save many lives due to better response time. This patrolling initiative is something similar,” said Jamshedpur SP.

Meanwhile, DGP also reviewed the crime and naxalism scenario of East Singhbhum district on Saturday. The entire Police Headquarter team was present for the review meeting.

“The meeting focussed on strengthening beat patrolling in cities, developing intelligence network in surrounding rural areas, better use of SPOs and integration of control room structure and Dial 100 system. All officials will do self-tasking and target on crime and naxalism

fronts in the next four months, which will be reviewed in DEC,” informed Jharkhand Police Spokesperson SN Pradhan.

He further informed, “All supervisory officials will determine targets for themselves regarding pending investigations, passport verification, supervision and service verification. Failing to achieve this target will result in action against the official. Also, crimes against women and youngsters have to be controlled, organised gangs should be quelled and work under Operation Muskan needs to be intensified.”
