Even after three days of incident, police remained clueless over the death of 20 year girl who was allegedly found hanging in her hostel room in Ranchi on Thursday evening. Though the police prima fascie termed it a case of suicide, her father has registered a case of murder at lalpur Police Station against the management of the coaching institute where she was preparing for medical entrance examinations.
“We cannot say anything in this regard unless postmortem report comes in our hand. Only on the basis of that report anything could be said in this regard. On the basis of investigations done so far, prima facie it appears that the girl hanged self with an intention to commit suicide,” said Office in charge of lalpur Police Station Ramod Kumar Singh.
Manish Agrawal, said to be the girl’s school time friend has been traced out, he said. “Manish Agrawal has been traced out who will be brought here soon for interrogation. We believe that he could prove to be a key person to put some light which may help us further to investigate this case,” said City DSP Shambhu Kumar Singh.
The DSP however claimed that they have received some fresh inputs on Sunday on the basis of which they will proceed further with investigations and expected that the truth would come out soon in this regard.
Police on Sunday however, carried out further investigations and took statements of more people, including the other students living in the hostel but could not reach to any conclusion so far.
“Out of 30-35 girls whom we have interrogated, not even a single girl said anything against the management of the coaching institute and all of them said in one voice that the girl committed suicide without pointing towards anybody,” said the DSP.
Adding more controversy to it, Managing Director of Goal Coaching Institute Bipin Kumar Singh alleged that Pankaj Singh and his associates Prince Singh and Omkar Singh were illegally using the name of Goal Educational Services Private limited despite the fact that they have been served a notice for cancellation of franchisee on January 28 this year.
“After we got complaints that they were not fulfilling the basic criteria set by us, we decided to cancel the franchise and served them a notice, but still they are using our name. We also inaugurated a corporate office in lalpur on February 26 with an intention to open our own institute in Ranchi,” said Singh.
Meanwhile, student organisations took the streets demanding judicial inquiry into the case and staged dharna at Circular Road resulting into blockade of road for quite some. Finally, they agreed to leave the place after being convinced by the City DSP.
The girl, preparing for her medical entrance, was found hanging under suspicious circumstances in her hostel room in Ranchi late on Thursday night, which prompted her father to lodge a murder case against the coaching institute that allegedly arranged accommodation for her.
Police said that she had skipped the 7pm - 9pm library visit telling her friends that she would rather study in the room alone. When the girls returned around 9:30 pm, they found the room locked from inside. When the girl did not respond even after several knocks, hostel warden was called who peeped inside the room though a window on the back side of it, and found her hanging from the ceiling fan with a towel. The girl was immediately rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences where doctors declared her brought dead.
Since no suicide note was found in the room and the persons who took the girl to hospital did not inform the police immediately about her death raised doubts over the incident.
