The Daltonganj police defused a brewing communal tension here on Tuesday. Sources said that if the police had reacted slow, the situation would have taken an uglier turn.SP Palamu Patel Mayur Kanhaiyya lal said that there were some elements who wanted to exploit the situation but the police aborted their intentions with the co-operation and understanding of the people of both the communities.SP added that a four wheeler was stopped in Redma as it was emanating some putrid smell.
Tongues began to wag about meat and skin and passions flew high. Some elements came on the street asking for purification to be done with the vehicle intact and this proportion was ominous said sources.SP added further that the deputy superintendent of police P R Barwar rushed to Redma and the vehicle in question was sped as the mob was baying for the blood of the driver who was thrashed mercilessly.According to DSP the samples of the items were given to the veterinary doctor to find out the species.A Kolkata based dealer is behind this, who buys the consignment from the local in Daltonganj.Police have registered a case against the owner of the vehicle, driver, the buyer and the purchaser.
