Nawa Jaipur police station in Palamu created a history of a sort.

There came no FIR to be lodged with this police station for 19 days in this New Year.

On January 20, this police station had the first FIR lodged with it.

It was about a cell phone stolen. The man who had lodged the complaint was a CSP owner Ram Bindu Prajapati.

The 20th January lodged FIR was cracked in just 48 hours. Nawa Jaipur police couldn't have dreamt much better.

No case for 19 days in the New Year and the first case cracked in 48 hours must have come as a shot in the arm of the officer in charge of this police station Sanjay Kumar Rajak.

The complainant had a suspect Santu. Nawa Jaipur police picked him and there the case began to unfold.

Officer in charge of the Nawa Jaipur police station Sanjay Kumar Rajak said "We held Santu. He proved a villain. He turned out to be a habitual offender."

Santu confessed to be stealing cell phones at regular intervals. He said he stole cell phones from haat bazaar, crowded places, marriage functions.

His victims used to file missing complaints about their cell phones. Santu was never doubted. It was Ram Bindu Prajapati who unmasked him.

Police officer Rajak further said "We recovered some stolen cell phones from Santu. He had a running partner in Deepak. We held him too and recovered stolen gadgets."

Rajak said police recovered 7 cell phones and 1 power bank. The two Santu and Deepak have been remanded in judicial custody today.

The recovered 8 items containing 7 cell phones and 1 power bank would be released to the victims only through court.

Police officer Rajak has asked the victims to give details of their IMEI (international mobile equipment identity) numbers to be matched with the recovered ones.
