PM's black diamond pledge to light up J'khand

In an invigorating speech to the residents of Dhanbad, the coal capital of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday pledged to brighten Jharkhand with the shine of black diamond (coal) in the State.

"I am ready to polish the diamond you are sitting on and brighten Jharkhand with its shine. Are youIJ" asked Modi, adding that the resources of the State would be efficiently used for development.

Referring to the coal block allocation related Ordinance framed by the Centre, the Prime Minister said that the revenue of over Rs 20,000 crore will be used for the development of the State and policies would be framed in such a manner that would generate employment alongwith providing strength to the labourers.

Modi was addressing a huge gathering of over 1.5 lakh people in support of the BJP candidates of Dhanbad region at Barwadda airstrip ground in Dhanbad on Tuesday.

"There is a Government in Delhi that works. The Government is yours and it will work for you only. A Government should be there for the poor. People should get basic facilities like buses, trains, educational institutes, hospitals, cheap medicines. The Government at Delhi is for the poor, by the poor and of the poor," he said.

The Prime Minister said that despite over 40 years of the nationalization of banks no poor person could dare enter a bank. "The poor did not get the benefits of nationalisation of banks. We, therefore, launched the Jan Dhan Yojna and for the first time witnessed the 'affluence' of the poor in the form of the deposits they made in the bank under the scheme. The poor people of India have deposited over Rs 7,000 crore in the banks under the scheme. I feel really honoured and gratified to serve the poor people of the country," he added.

Poking fun at the Opposition parties' polls strategy, the Prime Minister said they have lost all confidence but are going to the people out of compulsion.

"In order to keep themselves alive they are going to the people with desperate pleas. They have no issues to talk about now so they are repeating speeches of lok Sabha polls," Modi said without naming anyone.

The Prime Minister also urged the people to vote positively and break all voting records to see the strength of democracy. He asked the people of Jharkhand to instil faith in democracy like that of Jammu and Kashmir and also greeted the people for showing an overwhelming response in the Assembly polls.

Earlier, Modi thanked the people in advance for an upcoming stable Government in the State and said that the Centre was strong because of Jharkhand's support in the lok Sabha polls. "Give Jharkhand a stable Government with full majority so that the reins of the Government come in your hands. Coalition Governments go in the hands of contractors who ruin the State. Jharkhand needs a full majority Government of the BJP at its crucial age of 14-18 years so that it can be nurtured carefully. These five years are very important for the State. Do not make any mistake. Do not make a half-hearted Government. Choose stability and firmness," the Prime Minister urged.
