PM Awas Yojna Gramin is a kind of celebration of construction in Palamu. Children of beneficiaries lend a big hand to their parents in making the house.
Upender Oraon of Gurha Kudaga under Banduwa panchayat has three children - Akash (8) Manisha (10) and Anisa (13) - and these children of this tribal beneficiary gave a big hand to their father Upender and mother Asha in the construction of their house under the PM Awas Yojna Gramin.
Upender Oraon engaged a lift machine when he cast his roof concrete.
He has taken three installments worth 26,000, 32,000 and 52,000.
Two more installments are to be given to him worth 13,000 and 6,500 Rs .
Sources said house construction which is a very tedious affair is now a utsav here among the beneficiaries.
Sources said this was not the enthusiasm when it was Indira Awas yojna. Here a beneficiary is pooling in his own money to build strong and all weather house with window and door.
Drawing a comparison between PM Awas Yojna Gramin and Ujjawala Yojna sources said this AWas Yojna of Narender Modi has a mass acceptability as in Ujjawala Yojna a woman beneficiary comes, gets her gas cylinder, stove, regulator, gas pipe and book and goes home but here this PM Awas remains under construction for more than 100 days or so for myriad reasons.
Upender Oraon has used 4 quintals of iron bars for his house which was not heard or seen in INdira Awas.
However there is no word as to what gauge of iron bar is to be used for roof casting. Sources said beneficiaries are mostly using 10 mm iron bars for roof casting.
Joginder Oraon who is the neighbor of Upender Oraon is making his plinth with first installment. His children Pushpa ( 12) and Rupesh ( 9) elp their mother Radha Devi in construction of their house.
Pm Awas Yojna Gramin is an emotional venture in Palamu where a beneficiary has with this thumb rule redesigned the house of his own comfort.
Sources said poor building this yojna house has kitchen for them but no worship room as beneficiaries are all hard toilers.
The concept of kitchen was very remote with the poor but with this Awas a beneficiary is building it in his own way.
Sources said there is no envy among the neighbor if one or two is coming up. The poor still reminisce of days of Indira Awas cluster or colony. Today sources said it is individual house with individual design.
