Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Piska More-Kutchery elevated road corridor project – a first in Jharkhand – remotely from Deoghar where he inaugurated a slew of development projects.
The elevated road once constructed will provide relief to people from long traffic jams. Commuters facing a harrowing time while passing through the congested Kutchery-Piska road can breathe a sigh of relief for an elevated road that is expected to come up on that stretch in two years’ time.
The elevated road which will connect busiest commercial hubs in Ranchi will be 3.6 km long and will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 534 crore.
On an average, 15,000-20,000 vehicles pass through the road — which connects with NH-23 — daily. Besides using the stretch for their daily commuting, people often take this road for going to Gumla and Daltonganj districts, instead of taking the longer route through Ring Road.
The elevated road will be built on a single pillar and will have four lanes. The residents of Ratu road through which the elevated road will pass have welcomed the government decision for construction of elevated road. Utkal Anand, a resident of Ratu Road area said, “The area is one the busiest locations. The construction of elevated roads will prove an ease from traffic jams. “
A Haryana-based construction firm, KCC Construction Pvt Ltd, has been given the task for the project. The company will get two years time for completion of the project.
Modi laid the foundation online for a rail over bridge (ROB) near Nagri. “People have been facing huge difficulty while travelling on this highway. ROB was another much-awaited dream now being fulfilled by the Prime Minister,” said Sanjay Seth. Seth further said that these projects are long pending demands of people of Ranchi.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for Palma-Gumla highway. The highway once constructed will shorten the distance of Gumla from Ranchi as commuters will get a shorter route to reach Gumla.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Ranchi railway station. A total of Rs 447 crore will be spent on this project which will give facelift to Ranchi Railway station.
The project Major Upgradation of Ranchi Station will be done under EPC (Engineering Procurement of Construction). It is targeted to be completed in two and a half years. Work on this project was going on for the last two years.
The proposed redeveloped Ranchi station will have world-class passenger amenities including a food court, executive lounge, cafeteria, air-conditioned waiting halls etc. for ensuring ease of movement as well as the comfort of the passengers.
There will be a three-storey building on the right side of the station. A lift facility will also be available. A total of 7,000 passengers will be able to stay in the concourse area at a time. The two buildings will be connected to each other. Along the lines of the airport, the facility of a restaurant and air condition retiring room will also be present. There will be a total of six platforms.
