PM Awas Yojna Gramin a hit in Palamu

Published on:

Quality is the hallmark of houses coming up under Pardhan Mantri Awas Yojna Gramin (PMAY G) in Palamu.  Beneficiaries are using high quality bricks and good quality cement and are keeping a watch when it comes to mixing cement and sand.

locals said PMAY G has outshined the popularity of PM’s Jan Dhan as following its cap of 50,000 transaction per financial year this Jan Dhan account has lost much of its sheen but the PM Awas Yojna Gramin is a sweeping success here in Palamu  as sources said go to any village and one will find layers of brick stored for this house to be built or work going on with first installment down .

locals said the houses are for those homeless who were found roofless in the year 2011 social, economic and caste based census carried out all over the country. However unfortunate part of this is that top BJP functionaries do not know  as to what this PM Awas Yojna Gramin means now to Hindus and Muslims and others alike.

Shameeman Bibi is building such a house at Kudaga Kalan under Chainpur block. Five more Ansaris are building such houses too.  Bibi is working like any day labourer for her house.

A good thing was seen here at Kudaga Kalan where two Ansaris families living separately when they had thatched houses now have resolved to live without even a feet’s distance between them and as a result a huge long plinth for two houses under PM Awas Yojna Gramin are coming up.

Bibi has another problem. labourers are now scarce. They are demanding 250 rupees a day while the labourer’s wages ranges between Rs 350 to 400 per day.

DDC Palamu Sushant Gaurav when told of this scarcity of labourers said, “We understand this. House making is right now the most popular agenda of the beneficiaries.”

Gaurav said, “It is too good to hear that two families have now joined hands to have a combine plinth which means they will be living under one big roof’.

Asked if Palamu’s ranking in the completion of PM Awas Yojna Gramin is at par with other districts of the state like Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Ranchi pat came the reply from DDC ‘  Rank does matter but here houses coming up are of quality and this is anyone to see to believe’.

A huge 34,000 houses are to be built but to see this complete by March is nothing but a dream against a dream said sources.
