Plunge into natural habitat at Ranchi village resort

Missing out an explorer within you despite being a dweller of one of the richest ecological abode of the countryIJ A next door solution is coming up very near in Ranchi at Dadhi village of lapung.

Thanks to the entrepreneurship of Jayant Nath Shahdeo, a close descendent of the famous Ratu Royal family, and able support from the State Government’s Tourism Department, the unknown village at the outskirts of Ranchi is all set to host families for a complete natural, eco-friendly resorting package.

The cottages to begin with are going to have exotic features like horse riding, astronomical viewing, boating, fishing, trekking with all natural livings such a mud houses, chullha cooking and clay-made potteries.

“I had about 40 acres of paternal property at Dadhi village. Though there was some plantation done 20-15 years ago which has grown into dense jungle now, the area was unused until I and my partner Giridhar Narayan came up with an idea to develop it as an eco-friendly resort. Most of the works have been completed and we are hoping to open it for visitors somewhere between January-February next year,” said Jayant Shahdeo, an

 MBA degree holder from BIT-Mesra.

Interestingly, in order to maintain its natural characteristic and give the guests a feel of staying in a village, old residential structures have been left as it is with some slight modifications.

“We have used the houses there as cottages which are five in numbers at present. Some Swiss Tents and common spaces would also come up. Barring furnishing the toilets, we have left the rest such as mud-made walls, bamboo-based tiled roofs and old-fashioned wooden doors and windows without any change. The residential area is coming up on four acres and the rest would remain in the form of jungle, pond and pathways,” added Shahdeo.

The resort besides eying for families with kids would also accommodate small batches of college goers. The property also has a pond which is to be used for boating and fishing attractions. Kids can enjoy even astronomy with the help of telescope to find lunar craters, Saturn rings and some of stars in the crystal clear sky the location presents but a rarity in polluted towns now a days.

“The groups coming here will stay in the resort, cook for themselves, if they want, on chullhas, play badminton, volleyball, beach volleyball, cycle and walk along the banks to of picturesque Karo river. The facility is a complete eco-tour package which is unseen in this part of the State,” adds Giridhar Narayan.

The potential lies here must be the reason behind the State Government support coming in no time. “They have approached Tourism Minister Amar Kumar Bauri with the project and he readily backed it. The application for improving necessary infrastructure in the form of power connection with greater load, road and security etc has been forwarded to the office of Tourism Director,” said a senior

official of the Department expecting it of getting approved soon.

Besides the Government, the locals have also extended their helping hands in making the project a win-win for all. “The idea is also to provide trekking facilities up to local village farms, the Ramrekha Hill and ghats of the Karo river. The local mukhiya has assured us all the help since it can

also become an income opportunity for villagers in the form of supplying cooking

materials, utensils and firewood etc,” says Shahdeo.
