Palamu police had all the reasons to rejoice on Thursday, between 2 am to 2.30am, as the Panki police in Palamu arrested 8 PlFI cadres including their zonal commander laxman and recovered AK 47, Insas rifle, five guns, one pistol, 190 cartridges and 12 cell phones.
The SP Palamu N K Singh informed that the cadres surrendered and no shot was fired or bomb was thrown by the police. The PlFI laid down their arms and the police took in its possession. It took place during the CPI Maoists PlGA week from December 2.
In a week like this, the naxals just indulge in aberrations as one can see in Bihar’s Tandwa where land mines took the toll of 7 cops. In Gumla a Government school was razed to the ground.
N K Singh said in the PlGA week such a big crack against naxal outfit speaks volumes for police’s strategy, preparedness and execution of the plan. The Palamu district did this on its own. No side help even from any para military force he reminded.
The eight surrendered cum arrested are Sheoshankar Yadav alias laxman (Palamu) Ramjit Singh (lohardagga), Rajkishore Singh (lohardagga) Virender Singh (lohardagga, Arun Kharwar (lohardagga) Naresh Yadav (lohardagga) lavkesh Yadav (latehar) and Mantu Yadav (latehar).
Among other recovered items from these PlFI naxals are fake Voters’ I Cards, security guard document etc.
Asked that it is CPI Maoists who are observing PlGA week so where comes the PlFI going berserk in this week pat came the reply from the SP ‘In Panki it is CPI Maoist and PlFI together. The surrender cum arrest of 8 and recovery came at village Puroshattampur in Panki. Here in Panki the CPI Maoists and the PlFI are in full hobnob with each other’.
All surrendered and the police had a chance to send them off this world the SP said ‘ This should be an eye opener to those who cry foul when arrests are made. Here it was a surrender of 8 armed to the teeth as with 190 catridges the 8 could have fought with the police but they chose to surrender and the police did not deny them life as well’.
The biggest of haul of Arms and The Men sans any gun powder. Winter night operation lasting little over two and a half hours in Panki the hot bed of extremism comes as a good reflection of Palamu police coming into the centre stage against the extremism said sources.
