Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) observed Earth Day with a tree plantation drive under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”, highlighting collective efforts for sustainable solutions.

The programme, led by Chief General Manager (Town Services) Kundan Kumar, was organized near Sector 5 Library Ground. General Manager (ECS) Naveen Prakash Srivastava, General Manager (Town Services) A. K. Avinash, Deputy General Manager (Town Services) P. S. Singh, along with other officials and employees, participated in the event.

In 2024–25, BSL has planted around 1.10 lakh saplings across its premises and township, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Last year, 1,00,873 saplings were planted—70,000 near Ukkrid Mod, 28,500 in the City College area, 1,375 near Ashalata Centre, and 998 near the BGH campus. Over 9,300 saplings were also planted within the plant area, especially around production units.

Notably, a “carbon sink” has been developed near Garga Dam, where 1.6 lakh saplings were previously planted. This initiative aids in carbon absorption, water conservation, and biodiversity.

Chief of Communications M. K. Dhan said, “BSL is committed to creating a greener future. Our Earth Day initiatives reflect our dedication to environmental sustainability and our active role in supporting India’s climate goals through collective action.”

BSL’s green efforts reflect its dedication to a cleaner environment and its active contribution to India’s climate goals.
