Chief Justice Virender Singh on Tuesday inaugurated special Speed Post Service for the Jharkhand High Court (JHC) through specially designed pink envelops so that speedy delivery of documents, summons and notices could be done to the litigants. Praising the effort made by the Postal Department, the Chief Justice said that it will prove to be beneficial for the litigants.
“If the output of this service comes to be positive, the service may further be extended to other district courts so that more and more people get benefitted out of this service,” said the Chief Justice. It has been seen that it takes months and months of time to get a notice served to the respondent. It is expected that through this Special Speed Post Service, there will be speedy delivery or summons and notices to the litigants, he said.
The facility so far has been made available at the Jharkhand High Court Post Office.
Specially designed envelops, pink in colour, are available in two categories – plastic and cotton coated, having a value of ` 25 and ` 30 respectively. A small envelop is also attached to it, containing ‘Proof of Delivery’ (POD). “POD will also be booked along with the main envelop which will be made available to the sender through speed post,” said Chief Post Master General Anil Kumar. POD is also booked under Speed Post.
These envelops contain special bar code series to make it easier for the postal department officials to identify these posts easily. The delivery status will be informed to the sender through e-mail under e-Post Scheme.
“Through this, delivery of documents, summons and notices of Jharkhand could be made faster, prominently and in a transparent way,” said Kumar. It is entirely a different service where everything has been made special for Jharkhand High Court, he added.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Registrar General of Jharkhand High Court and Director, Postal Services Bhupal Ram.
