One of the most tantalising pandal for the occasion of Durga puja is put up by the Satya Amar lok committee members. With its innovative theme and concept every year thousands of devotees visit the pandal located at Harmu road. In order to do something distinctive, this year too the committee members have come up with an artistic proposal to enchant the devotees.
Citing details about the preparation of puja pandal, Naiti Kumar, an artist said, “To be specific about the theme the entire concept is based on ‘Pietra Dura’, a decorative art form known as Parchin Kari in South Asia. It is a term for the inlay technique of using cuts and fitted with highly polished coloured stones to create images. As many as 50 workers are involved in the preparation of puja pandal. For the last six months we are involved in preparing the small pieces of thread work design on plywood. The entire pandal is being prepared and decorated in the house boat style. To further enhance the decoration special light effects will also be used.”
“Artisan from Medinipur district of West Bengal is busy in giving shape to the vision, as the artisans have been designing this particular art form on plywood for last six months. The ‘Pietra Dura’ art form is tedious and time consuming as it involves minuscule thread work on plates or on plywood,” Kumar further added.
Stating about the idol of Goddess Durga, Kumar asserted, “This time we are going to decorate sculpts of Goddess with small shells to create an ambience of coastline. The chisel of Goddess too is on the house boat to give similar look to the theme,” Kumar informed.
In order to control the teeming crowd during Durga puja, proper security arrangements are made by the committee members of Satya Amar lok Puja pandal.
“We have decided to put eight CCTVs cameras inside the premises to check any untoward incidents. Women security personnel’s will be deployed and special women cell will be created to provide assistance to girls and women. Apart from it we are also making arrangements for some basic medical kits. lost and found department will further aid the public for any hassle,” said Secretary of Satya Amar lok puja committee, Kishan Poddar.
