In order to meet the passengers rush, the South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to provide permanent extra sleeper class and chair car coaches in several trains originating and passing through the Tatanagar railway station.An official of SER said that as many as half-a-dozen long distance passenger trains will get the facility of additional coaches. "Tatangar is the second busiest station of SER. This is for the first time such initiative of permanent extra coaches in long distance trains would be provided. Usually, extra coaches are provided for temporary period to clear rush of passengers during festivals and vacations. But, keeping in view regular rush of passengers, the railways have decided to provide additional coaches in some of the trains," said the official.
Station manager at Tatanagar O. P Sharma said that two originating trains from Tatanagar : Tata- Danapur Express and Tata-Yeshwantpur ( near Bangalore) will get the facility of an additional chair car and a sleeper class coach.The Tata-Danapur Express will get an ordinary chair car coach from July 1 while an additional sleeper class coach will be attached to the Tata-Yeshwantpur Express from July 3 onwards on a permanent basis," said Sharma.Meanwhile the decision of SER to introduce permanent coaches has given people a reason to smile. "The decision is a welcome move from the Railways. This would ensure peaceful journey. One can look forward to meet re latives and friends during the year," said U K Srivastava, a senior functionary of Chottanagpur Passengers' Association.
The waiting lists in several of the trains like Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express, Sambalpur Howrah Ispat Express, Puri-New Delhi Puroshottam Express, Howrah-Ahmedabad Express is almost exhausted for next month.
Tatanagar assumes importance in view because it is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express.
