The Hindu New Year, Vikram Samvat 2074 started on Wednesday with the start of Chaitra Navratra. The denizens of Hazaribagh celebrated this occasion with enthusiasm. The celebrations of arrival of New Year actually started from Wednesday evening with the presentation of cultural programme organised by Sanskar Bharti.
In local town hall Sanskar Bharti organised an eye catching program of combination of song, music and dance. VC Prof. Gurdeep Singh inaugurated the program along with HoD Sanskrit Tara Kant Shukla, CRPF Commandent Munna Kumar Singh and Ex-MP Mahavir lal Vishwakarma by lighting the lamp.
In this cultural program Priyanka Giri of Ranchi, known for her performance in Dance India Dance program presented Hariyanavi dance and forced the spectators to clap. The programme which started with the presentation of theme song of Sanskar Bharti lasted for about 3 hours. During these three hours local artists and artists invited from other places entertained the gathering with their presentations of Dandiya dance, Bangla dance, local folk songs, devotional songs etc.
On Wednesday morning, denizens in large number assembled near Hazaribagh lake to give Ardhya to the rising sun on their New Years day. Amidst the enchanting of vedic mantras and sounds of shankh and dhols the devotees offered their humble gratitude to lord sun. This program was also organised by Sanskar Bharti.
In the evening the volunteers of RSS came out in the streets of Hazaribagh town to take part in the New Year Padsanchalan program. Common man in the streets not only welcomed the volunteers but also praised their contribution to the society. The volunteers were wearing their new dress and throughout the program their discipline was watch worthy.
