The purpose of the step is to stop child marriage. Human Resources Development department (HRD) Secretary Aradhana Patnaik directed Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) employees on Thursday to seek help from Mahila Samakhya Core team. Patnaik said those districts wherein Mahila Samakhya was not framed authorities could take the help of Self-Help Groups for coordination.

Around 650 participants including District Education Officers, Block Education Officers, District Superintendents of Education and Block Resource Persons attended this State-level meeting headed by Patnaik at Jharkhand Academic Council auditorium. HRD department has set a goal of improving the standard of education in the Government schools. “We have decided to dedicate the 2015-16 academic session for quality education since except for teaching the students, all other activities are being conducted in the schools,” the HRD Secretary told The Pioneer.

All the Block Education employees will now have to hold a meeting every Saturday at 3 pm. Also, they will have to prepare a work plan for the next week with reference to the discussion of this weekly meeting. Similarly, Block Resource Persons (BRPs) are directed to prepare a work inspection programme after going through the coordination done in all classes. All block education departments will have to maintain a Movement Register for the details of the inspections.

As part of the Quality Education, HRD Secretary has instructed to start ‘Science Centre’ in all schools. Moreover, she has told the officials to ensure library in all schools. In the upcoming academic session, ‘Pre-School Programme’ will be started in all schools. Organising Annual Sports Day is also mandatory from now onwards.

Stressing on giving attention to each school, Patnaik has requested each officer to adopt a school. The proposed Bal Samagam programme wherein various cultural and literary events will be organised for the personality development of students is also a priority for the HRD department.

Prior to announcement of these two programmes, The Pioneer had already mentioned the details of HRD department’s plans in its report ‘Govt all set to recruit 30,000 school teachers’ published on December 31, 2014.

The Block Resource Centre at Mandar has set an ideal example by providing all the necessary facilities. Other block officials have been directed to follow Mandar’s centre else an action would be taken for negligence.

HRD department has found ‘Bal Sansad’ inactive in some schools. In this regard, Patnaik and JEPC Administrative Officer Pradip Kumar Choubey highlighted schools at Sirka and Angara blocks where Bal Sansad is functional.
