Peace committee meeting turns peace dialogue amid Covid-19

A peace dialogue was held in place of a full-fledged peace committee meeting at Daltonganj police station in wake of Covid-19 pandemic on Saturday afternoon where only a dozen members of the minority community took part assuring a fleet of civil and police officials there of a trouble free Bakrid that falls on August 1.

Every year on festival like Holi, Dussehra, Ramnavmi, Muharram, there was a ritual in the past with the police and civil administration to hold peace committee meetings at police station/ block level but with this pandemic such a meeting for peace has been substituted by dialogue for peace.

Giving details of the peace dialogue SDPO sadar Sandip Kumar Gupta said “The peace conversation was arranged in accordance with all health protocols like sanitization of tables, chairs, hands, masks on faces and maintenance of social distancing.”

The talk was held in a simple, plain but with firm resolution of the administration that festival be celebrated as festival and not at the cost of anyone’s health or any danger to law and order as then law will take its own course.

Gupta said the minority community members who were present in the peace talk were told to observe this coming festival Bakrid with all care, caution and norms of health safety refraining from going to the mosques to say Bakrid namaz etc as the government has still its embargo on religious congregation in places of worship/ shrines/ tombs etc

SDPO said from our side it was a point straight that under no circumstances any aberration would be brooked in regard to any matter of banned animal or banned meat in whatever form it maybe found.

Gupta said the members of the Muslim community had vowed to observe the norms and protocols which ensure and safeguard peace, amity and harmony among the communities.

SDPO said in this peace dialogue he asked the members to explain the need of the title Muslim Chamber of Commerce whose self styled head is said to be Guddu Khan as per some media reports ( not the Pioneer). Gupta said, “I told the community to understand the inherent damaging quotient in this kind of classification of Chamber of Commerce as nowhere in India or abroad Chamber of Commerce is identified by the name of any caste, creed, faith etc.”

SDPO said “Our police prevail upon every section of the society to do and act or say which strengthens the fabric of Indian-ness.”
