In an inhumane and bizarre incident, a PCR van cops citing territorial jurisdiction left a badly accident-hit college student Vikesh Tiwary to die on NH 75 on Sunday. The tragedy occurred on NH 75 when Tiwary a resident of Jore village was hit by a heavy vehicle.
PCR van number 4 was close to the accident site but it did not do anything. It just asked people there to call PCR van number 5. Van number 4 sped way from the site leaving the youth to die a miserable death on NH 75.
Confirming this apathetic and indifferent attitude of PCR van number 4 cops which included two havildars, SP Palamu, Indrajeet Mahatha, suspended these two havildars and PCR van driver as well for putting up the ugly and inhuman face of police in Palamu.
Mahatha said, "PCR van number 4 ought to have reacted to this accident with all swiftness and promptness instead van number 4 showed extreme apathy which brings bad name to Palamu police and so I have suspended the whole lot of three cops of this PCR van number 4."
The SP reiterated such inhumane act would never be tolerated and cops showing this would definitely face music.
This callousness and indifference on the part of van number 4 had led to a great public fulmination on NH 75 wherein people accused PCR vans of only earning easy money by way of coercion and pressure tactics with the truck and lorry drivers here. Cutting across political lines leaders of all hues and public in general have bitterly condemned this inhuman act of PCR van number 4.
Sources said cops fight over territorial jurisdiction and first try to find out if the head or legs are in their territory leaving the man in road/ NH accident in a pool of blood. Sources said reaching out medical assistance or emergency rush is decided after head and legs are territorially decided by the cops.
Shahpur bridge is one such in Daltonganj where if a body is found then Daltonganj police and Chainpur police first decide as to under which pole number of this bridge is the body lying. Police act only on ascertaining the number of bridge pole.
In this case too van number 4 found the head of bleedingTiwary in territory of van number 5 and so left the college student to die a very sad death on NH 75.
