From July 2013 onwards payments of all social security schemes such as old age pensions, Indira Gandhi widow pension, Vivekananda handicapped pension etc will be given by direct benefit transfer scheme, which is based on UID number. This was decided in a review meeting held in DC office. DC Sunil Kumar reviewed the progress in implementation of DBT scheme and gave some directives to the officers.
In the meeting the officers reported to the deputy commissioner that UID numbers of more than 22000 beneficiaries have been collected. Out of these 10456 numbers have been linked with the bank account numbers and the work of linking the rest UID numbers with the bank account numbers is going on rapidly and it is expected to be completed in the first week of July. DC Sunil Kumar directed the BDOs to collect the UID numbers of rest beneficiaries of their blocks through the BPOs and Rozgar Sevaks.
