Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Captain, Indian Cricket Team is one of the biggest income tax payer; for the last two years, he has been the highest payer as an individual. Everyone should learn a lesson form him, understand their duties and pay their taxes on time, urges KK Sinha Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Ranchi.
“Besides Dhoni there are few other individuals who are paying taxes on time but we are expecting this from all residents. The process of filing I-T return is now become very easy, one can file it using through internet too,” Sinha said. “The Income Tax imposed by the Government of India is lowest across the world,” he added.
“As far as collection of tax is concern we achieved a growth rate of 46 per cent in terms of TDS collection this year though collections of Advance Taxes are not satisfactory,” admitted Sinha. The overall target of tax collection is `3,700 crore this year, by till date we have achieved `1,784 crore, he said. We are also concentrating on pending taxes to achieve the figure. We are working hard and certainly achieve the target by end of this fiscal,” informed Sinha.
He appealed, from individuals and corporates to pay their taxes on time, without any fear. Expressing deep concern over the tax evasion and on the people who running parallel economy (black money) Sinha said we are keeping strict vigil on every high value transactions.
Every one including doctors, politicians, businessmen, builders and real estate businessmen, salaried class people with high transaction values are on the radar. We are also on the move to eliminate them who are running parallel economy and evading taxes, he said.
“Now all transactions are PAN based, none can be escaped. Search, Survey and Raids would be conducted soon to mitigate it”, he added.
Meanwhile I-T official are keeping eye on politicians and their cadres. Taking queue from the past horse-trading case (RS polls) and cash-for-votes scam (panchyat poll) IT department tightened their waist in view of the forthcoming lok Sabha and Assembly election, he said.
