Patients, attendants face drinking water crisis in SBMCH

Published on:

The patients and the attendants are facing the acute crisis of drinking water in Sheikh BHikhari

Medical College and Hospital campus. There are three hand pumps, but all are out of order. To

provide the oxygen to the patients through the pipe lines are not working due to disorder of knobs.

The old Hazaribag hospital campus and building was handed over to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical

College and Hospital to practice the students of the medical college. Huge amount of equipment was

purchased by the college administration, but they are useful to the patients.

In this summer no extra arrangements were made by the hospital management to provide the

drinking water to the patients and their attendants. There are three hand pumps in the campus of

the hospital , but no hand pump is working in the campus. Due to non- availability of the drinking

water the attendants in OPD are purchasing the drinking water from the market.

CPM district secretary Ganesh Kumar Citu has written a letter to the deputy commissioner of

Hazaribag to provide drinking water to the patients as well as their attendants. No action has been

taken by the hospital management towards the problem of drinking water.

In the hospital there are only six wardboys to look after the patients in more than a dozen

departments. Due to the shortage of ward boys the patients are not properly treated by the hospital

doctors and subsidiary staff.

The superintendent of SBMCH Dr. Binod Kumar said that they have engaged the ward boys

according to the direction of the health department. Regarding the knob, Dr. Kumar said that we will

change the knobs.

Regarding the crisis of drinking water he said that we are not getting the information that the hand

pumps in the campus are not working. We will repair the hand pumps very soon, he said.
