Passengers urge BJP MPs to upgrade railway platforms

Published on:

The passengers of this Dhanbad railway division have urged the BJP MPs of Chatra Sunil Singh and Palamu V D Ram to upgrade all low level and rail line level platforms of the railway stations falling under this division.

Railway stations like Kumandi, Bendi, Demu Richughutta Mangra, Chhipadohar are all rail line level platforms under latehar district. A rail line level platform is 260 millimeter in height and causes immense hardships to passengers in either boarding the train or alighting from it.

Railway sources said even platforms number 2 and 3 of latehar railway station are half rail line level and half low level.

Similarly another railway station Toree under latehar district is half rail line level and half low level platform. Kechki is a railway station which if upgraded can be the tourists' station but here too it has low level platforms.

Garhwa railway stations platform number 2 and 3 are of low level said railway official Sinha. Believe it or not green grasses appear on the rail line level platforms in rainy season

Railway traffic inspector A K Sinha confirms this status of platforms mentioned above.

A low level platform is 455 millimeter in height but a high level platform is 760 millimeter.

Sources said the railways persist with rail line level platforms where the business of passengers' travelling is poor. Railway sources said majority of rail line level platforms have two men on contract manning the railway station.

In Palamu railway stations like Tolra, Rajhara,  Kajrie, lalgrahbihar and Haidernagar are rail line level platforms.

A BJP leader here begging anonymity said 'Our MPs travel either by air or by Rajdhani, Shatabdi express trains and hence do not understand the pangs of sufferings of the passengers'. The BJP leader said it has been more than 15 months and none of the two BJP MPs have shown any work done on the railway front here.
