Despite Koderma being one of the highest revenue generating stations, under Dhanbad Rail Division, and even after having elevated to the status of a Junction, it seems to be lagging miserably, in terms of adequate passenger facilities.
Chief Commercial Manager (passenger), Hajipur from East Central Railway Sanjeev Kumar Sharma admitted to this fact during his Koderma visit on Wednesday saying that he is not satisfied with the amenities provided to the passengers in the station premises.
He inspected all the toilets, booking counter, enquiry office and others at the station in an on the spot verification. He said on record that in view of Koderma junction being grade one station in the division passenger amenities are much below the desirable mark. “We have to enhance these to the standard level. In the budget 2013-14 railway has great opportunity to ensure modernisation.”
He also stressed on safety measures during nights for train en route and instructed to shift the car parking immediately from the basement of the new building to other place and to allot proper space in form of shops to those who were running their businesses in the railway premises and to others in need. Talking to pressmen he said that the Junction is gearing up with coach indication board, food plaza and the likes.
