Although political parties have remained biased for women members in sharing seat in the 16th lok Sabha Election but the parties’ women wing are leaving no stone unturned in expanding the popularity of their contesting candidate.
After offering tea at Modi stalls, Bhartiya Janata Party Women wing is running a new campaign ‘lotus Mehendi’ an exclusive way to strive the chord with women voters in popularising BJP’s PM mascot in the run-up to polls. The campaign is ongoing in the rural areas where women are getting their hands coloured with henna with the lotus symbol.
State Women Wing president Usha Pandey sharing information about the campaign said, “Women residing in rural areas are giving an overwhelming response to the mehendi campaign. The areas fairer sex is enthusiastically colouring their palm and sloganeering for ‘Modi Sarkar’. Congress has ruled the country by playing the communal cards and now people have understood their game and openly accepting the party.”
She further added that the party campaign is based on development and promise of good governance. People from different walks of life are accepting the party agenda. While, answering the question why mehendi campaign Pandey explained, “Mehendi and female share a deep connection and what else can be more effective than this to get into the nerves of female votersIJ The party aim to reach out its target audience and mehendi campaign is like icing on the cake.”
Interestingly, with an overpowering majority of the electorates, in the district hailing from the rural areas, predominantly inhabited of the tribal area, the Congress party women wing is seeking the help of traditional folk and tribal art forms to reach out the masses.
The distinctive tribal folk dance ‘Chau Naach’ still holds significant sway over the rural masses due to their electrifying appeal. Congress Candidate for Ranchi Parliamentary Constituency Subodh Kant Sahay’s better half Rekha Sahay who has taken the in-charge of party’s women wing for this general election said, “Being a theater artist I know the impact art forms and folk dances can create on the people. The plays are highlighting the spirited mass movements spearheaded by the congress government to safeguard the interest of the farmers, laboures and other toiling masses besides underprivileged people.”
Besides, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) women wing is running from pillar to post to place party’s one of the prime agenda is women empowerment in entire corner of the state. AJSU Women wing District President Suchita Singh sharing information about the same said, “We are conducting door to door campaigning for the party chief Sudesh Mahto and appealing the masses to help him in bringing the much-needed change.”
