More than 65 parents came out on road and staged a demonstration against the arbitrary conduct of the private schools in Bokaro. Carrying shoes and sandals a rally was rolled out in protest by the parents near City Centre, Sector 4 in Bokaro Steel City.
Parents alleged that there had been a nearly 40 percent hike in school fees over the past four years.
Alleging for arbitrary conduct by the private school managements, Rajendra Vishwakarma the General Secretary of Bokaro Chamber of Commerce said, Schools are taking advantage as most of them are registered under charitable trust and they are charging 30 to 40 thousand rupees for admission of a student amid they all are handed over lands at Rs 1 per acer by the Bokaro Steel Plant management for construction of school building.
“Schools are also asking students to purchase shoes, books and others from a particular shop at exorbitant rates”, he alleged.
Despite increasing the fees, the quality of education is a matter of concern, said another parent. “Many teachers cannot even speak basic English. Quality is an issue and our repeated attempts to engage in a dialogue with the school management have failed”, added Satnam another parent.
